Ronald Mc Donald House By Erin Whiles, 4th Grade Accelerated Cluster, 2008-2009
Do you know what RMH stands for? Well, it stands for Ronald McDonald House, but for parents with sick kids, it sometimes means hope. Why you ask? They’re a non-profit organization that gives parents and other family members a place to stay while a severely sick child in their family stays in the hospital. Without profit, how does the building survive? Well, they get money from pop-tabs on soda cans! People send in the metal tabs and the RMH sends them to a recycling company and gets 75 cents per pound of aluminum. Anyone can help! Just bring in the pop-tabs to school, put them in a collection box, and the school will do the rest. The money they earn goes entirely towards the charity and helping sick kids in need. So remember a little piece of metal can really make a difference!
