Ceremonies and Beliefs

 By:  Kevin X.

The Apache had ceremonies healing sickness.  In these ceremonies the sick people come to get healed.  The people who heal the sick ones (The Di-yins) use spells and charms.  If families want to heal themselves they get advice from the Di-yins.  So people are famous if they can heal themselves.

The people of the Apache believed that owls and bears bring bad luck.  Other animals are afraid of them, too.  An owl feather are said to cause sickness and even death.  If a Apache looks at a bear he or she could get hurt.  This is why Apache are afraid of some animals.

There were three kinds of sprits and one god.  The sprits were the moon, earth and sky.  The god was Ysun.  Ysun, the life-giver, was one of the best.    Ysun would call the Ganhs (the mountain sprits).  They taught the Apache how to live in there region.  They get help from the white painted woman and child of water.
