Haida

Living Off the Land

   The Haida had many different foods.  Haidas foods are stews, deer meat and wild berries in the woods near by.  They caught salmons in the Pacific Ocean and inland rivers.  When the various dish of  fish meat and wild fruits were ready the people ate it and like it for many years.  This is what they ate for many years.  

  The Haida traded to a lot of tribes and received from lots of tribes.  The Haida receive by sea to obtain the furs of animals in the northern forest including deer's and beavers.  They traded to Spain, Russia, Great Britain, Canada and the United States.  The Haida received iron kettles, knives, and needles.  They traded to a lot Indian tribes and received from a lot of Indian tribes.

   They Haida did many things on a island.  They build long houses on their island that could fit many people.  The Haida made their houses out of many things like wood and rope.  They had many rooms in the longhouses. This is what the Haida did to live off the land.
